We're on a mission together

When we say “mission” or “missional” we are referring to our posture towards the city and its culture. We see all Christians as missionaries in their own normal rhythms of life. In fact, being a missionary is nothing more than living our normal lives with deep Gospel intentionality. It can simply mean spending time with neighbors, having folks from work over for dinner, or adopting a single mom or student. It can be paying for the laundry of those in need, community gardens, art lessons, and ugly sweater contests - the list is virtually endless. Sounds normal doesn’t it? It is.

Mission is doing these “normal” things with a message of King Jesus in our lungs and with our hands. Missionaries illustrate the Gospel by how they interact with the city and they explain it in the story of God to mankind – the Gospel. Good mission requires both what we do and what we say. We do this in our individual lives, and we also do it in community. We want both our personal rhythms and our communal rhythms to love the city well.
